Zach Gallagher, P.E., E.V.P. of Business Development will be delivering a presentation entitled; Moving Toward Net Zero Energy Water Reuse at this year’s Smart & Sustainable Campuses Conference on Tuesday, March 28th in College Park Maryland. Gallagher’s presentation will be in held in room 1105 from 2:15pm-3:05pm.
The focus of Gallagher’s fifty minute presentation will be new water reuse drivers which are emerging in tandem with the increasing costs for water and sewer. Gallagher will present solutions such as the incorporation of on-site distributed water reuse systems within both existing infrastructure and new-build environments. Case studies will be reviewed in detail, including Battery Park (NYC), The New School (NYC) and MacDonald Island (Alberta, Canada). These projects are a testament to the evolution of distributed systems over the last few decades and will include discussion on changes in regulations, technology and project delivery methods, along with the benefits of the integration of our water and energy infrastructure.
The Smart and Sustainable Campuses Conference was first held in 2005, after the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) identified colleges and universities as analogues to cities; each with their own environmental challenges, and helped encourage and shape an event to meet the evolving needs of the higher education sustainability community. Registration is open through March 19th and more information is available at: https://smartandsustainable.umd.edu/
